Design Tips

A:

Always try to limit what your saying on a sign, make it short and sweet. People now a days just don't have time to read all the verbiage you wish to say. Less lettering always give you more space make the lettering bigger and ultimately more viewable.

Q:

Visiblity of lettering

A:

Lettering can be seen with impact @ 1 inch high lettering equaling 10 feet of easy visibility. Meaning a letter that is 4 inches tall can be seen easily from 40 feet away. Lettering that can be seen from extended distances is normally 1 inch equaling 30 feet of visibility at approximately 20-20 vision. So if the same 4" letter was farther away you can see it from approximately 120 feet away.

Q:

Colors

A:

It is always wise to use colors that stand out, try not to make a sign too busy it sometimes can have adverse effects on its visibility. Darker colors on a lighter background always work best.
